The Journey Begins

As our team gathered at Paradise, we knew that the journey ahead would be long and arduous. With our gear unloaded and ready to go, we set off towards Rainier BaseCamp. But before embarking on this epic adventure, it's essential to plan your travel schedule wisely. We recommend avoiding scheduling airline flights before midnight on the last day of your program to ensure a smooth and stress-free journey.

Ascending Mount Rainier

The climb up Mount Rainier is no easy feat. With variables such as snow conditions, time of year, route conditions, and weather all playing a crucial role in determining the duration of the climb, every moment counts. After reaching Camp Muir, we pack up our gear and descend to Paradise in the early afternoon, with the descent typically taking half the amount of time it took for the ascent.

Panoramic Views

From the summit crater, panoramic views stretch as far as the eye can see - from the Pacific to the eastern side of the Cascades. When the weather is clear, the view from the summit is nothing short of spectacular. And if the timing and weather cooperate, we take a short hike across the crater floor to Register Rock and Columbia Crest (14,410').

Summit Crater

The summit crater itself is a unique environment, capped in perennial snow and with steam rising out of cavernous vents. From our high point, we descend back to Camp Muir, where we can reflect on the incredible journey we've been on.
